Invigour has worked with mac and our partners sampad for several years as Project Creator and Project Manager for a redevelopment of the arts centre at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham. With Invigour's help we have secured resources from Arts Council England and Birmingham City Council plus the commitment of the City Council to practically deliver the project. Invigour continues in the role of Client Advisor. Their close and supportive relationship with us has encouraged and enabled us, as a novice developer, to bring forward imaginatively and confidently a £13.5 million project to realise a renewed mac as an arts centre fit for the next generation. ![]()

mac/sampad Building Project

mac is a busy Arts Centre, based in Edgbaston close to Birmingham City centre, which delivers a culturally diverse and broad artistic programme that attracts over 500,000 visitors annually.
In partnership with sampad, a resident company and one of the foremost South Asian Arts organisations, mac was determined to utilise a Development grant from Arts Council West Midlands to instigate a major project to refurbish its current buildings that had been adapted and stitched together over time, and add a new gallery and performance space that would significantly improve both user and visitor facilities and in particular it’s accessibility.
Invigour was engaged in a Project Creation role to spearhead the drive to develop a robust scheme and obtain further public sector funding to enable this re-development to take place.
Leadership of an integrated client/consultant team was also provided to assist the evolution of a business case and brief and undertake feasibility and option studies, whilst also overseeing the overall programme including OJEU procurement process and risk/value management.
